SAHSOL Faculty Publishes Monograph with Springer Books

Through a detailed historical and empirical account of post-independence years, this book offers a new assessment of the role of the judiciary in Pakistani politics. Instead of seeing the judiciary as helpless or struggling against an authoritarian state, it argues that the judiciary has been a crucial link in the creation of state and political inequality in PakistanThis rubs against the central role given to the judiciary in developing countries to fix the ‘corrupt politicians and stubborn bureaucracies’ in the World Bank’s ‘Good Governance’ paradigm and rule of law initiatives.

Khalid Ishaque Distinguished Lecture Series to Hold Lecture at SAHSOL

The Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) is proud to bring the Khalid Ishaque Distinguished Lecture Series by Prof. Dr. Shaheen Sardar Ali, who will be giving a talk on ‘Continuities, Discontinuities and Ruptures: Exploring Islamic Constitutionalism(s) in the Muslim World with Specific Reference to Pakistan and Kuwait.'

LUMS Alumna Receives Full Tuition Scholarship at Warwick

LUMS Alumna, Shanza Faiq, B.A-L.L.B., Class of 2016 has received a full tuition scholarship to pursue an L.L.M. in International Development Law and Human Rights from the University of Warwick. Along with this, she has also been shortlisted for the Fulbright Scholarship. 

Shanza has received the prestigious Woman of Pakistan scholarship at Warwick, which is awarded to one student every year. She received this scholarship due to her high CGPA, numerous extracurricular activities, determination and desire to bring about a viable change for human rights law in Pakistan.

LUMS Law Journal

LUMS Law Journal is a peer-reviewed journal of Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, Lahore University of Management Sciences. The primary aim of the Journal is to provide a forum for scholarly debates amongst law students, faculty, lawyers, judges, practitioners and experts on important legal issues, which may lead to policy reforms.It is intended to stimulate interest in all matters pertaining to law, with an emphasis on matters arising from the relationship of law to other disciplines.

Law & Politics Society

The Law and Politics Society is a student organization at LUMS that hopes to encourage legal and political discourse on national and international issues. It aspires to enable students to understand the application of legal principles, and overcome obstacles in actual legal practice by addressing real-life situations through quality debate. Therefore, the LPS aims to cultivate in students at LUMS and abroad an interest in the professional aspect of law and politics through debates, panel discussions, and moots.
