SAHSOL students represented LUMS and Pakistan at the Concours Jean Pictet Competition
Three students from the SAHSOL represented LUMS and Pakistan at the Concours Jean Pictet competition in March. These students are: Maira Rashid, Ayman Irfan and Ali Gilani, who were second and first year law students at the time. The competition was a week long and took place in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.
Jean Pictet is an International Humanitarian Law based competition that aims to take the law out of the books and requires students to act out the role they have been assigned.
Sports Law and PCB Functionality in Pakistan
The LUMS Law Journal had the pleasure of hosting Mr Taffazul Haider Rizvi, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan, for a talk titled "Sports Law and PCB Functionality in Pakistan". This was a virtual interactive session held via Zoom.
Mr Rizvi started the discussion by talking about Pakistan's Sports (Development and Control) Ordinance, 1962. The Ordinance is the parent law under which Pakistan Sports Board and the Pakistan Cricket Board were created. Mr Rizvi highlighted the history of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the relation of the Board and with the State, particularly the courts, particularly judicial review.
LUMS Inaugurates Pakistan’s First Centre for Chinese Legal Studies
Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) held a ceremony to mark the inauguration of the Centre for Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS) at LUMS. The Centre, a groundbreaking initiative for research in and the promotion and teaching of Chinese legal studies in Pakistan, has been established in collaboration with the School of Law at Wuhan University, China. The ceremony drew a large attendance, and featured prominent individuals from not only the legal field, but also from the government sector. Honourable Mr. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan, served as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker.
Law & Politics Society
The Law and Politics Society is a student organization at LUMS that hopes to encourage legal and political discourse on national and international issues. It aspires to enable students to understand the application of legal principles, and overcome obstacles in actual legal practice by addressing real-life situations through quality debate. Therefore, the LPS aims to cultivate in students at LUMS and abroad an interest in the professional aspect of law and politics through debates, panel discussions, and moots.

LUMS Law Journal is a peer-reviewed journal of Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, Lahore University of Management Sciences. The primary aim of the Journal is to provide a forum for scholarly debates amongst law students, faculty, lawyers, judges, practitioners and experts on important legal issues, which may lead to policy reforms.It is intended to stimulate interest in all matters pertaining to law, with an emphasis on matters arising from the relationship of law to other disciplines.
