Data Resource Unit

Data Resource Unit (DRU) is an online repository of data resources developed by the Department of Economics at Lahore University of Management Sciences to facilitate academic and policy oriented research on Pakistan. With few exceptions, the data resources at CMER mostly consist of individual and household-level data from Pakistan’s household and labor force surveys, other government surveys, financial and provincial development statistics and LUMS surveys. 

LUMS Random Walk Economics Society Receives Laurels at SAESM Colombo

LUMS Random Walk Economics Society (RWES) participated in the 12th Annual South Asian Economics Students' Meet (SAESM) which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from April 3 to 5, 2016. SAESM) which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from April 3 to 5, 2016. 

Muhammad Umer Zahid (Vice President, LUMS RWES) won the Best Research Paper Award in the theme "Intra-Regional Trade and Exchange as a Key Strategy for Alleviating Rural Poverty." The title of his paper was "Measuring the Impact of Intra-Regional Trade on Urban-Rural Income Gap in Pakistan.” 

LUMS Alumna Represents Pakistan at UN Panel on Women Economic Empowerment

LUMS BSc Economics graduate (class of 2008), Fiza Farhan, CEO and Co-Founder of Buksh Foundation and Buksh Energy represented Pakistan at the inaugural meeting of the UN Secretary General's High Level Panel on Women Economic Empowerment, which was held on March 15, 2016.

This is the first time such a meeting has been held. The meeting started during the 60th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, which is operating under the aegis of the UN Secretary General and intends to determine the action plan towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to improve the economic outcomes for women and create business profitability through gender equality.​ For More
