SBASSE Faculty Presents Research at University of Cambridge, UK

Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Associate Professor, Department of Biology at Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) presented his research titled, “From Arabidopsis to Flies: Quest for novel regulators of trxG,” in a symposium, “The Fascination of Plant Genome Dynamics” organised on August 17, 2018 at the St. John’s College, University of Cambridge. Developing a Low-cost Ventilator for Ill-equipped Hospitals

Research in the field of biomedical engineering is a field not often delved deep into in Pakistan. At LUMS, however, Dr. Farasat Munir, with his extensive research on the development of low-cost ventilators is proving the opposite. His reason for delving into this area of research is primarily due to the fact that in a country like Pakistan, which is not only on its way to prosper but to develop as well, is still stricken with a reasonably large shortage of high-end medical equipment like ventilators, which in today’s age are a necessity.

SBASSE Faculty Presents Research at Babraham Institute, Cambridge

Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Associate Professor, Department of Biology at Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), LUMS presented his latest research work at Babraham Institute on August 17, 2018, in Cambridge, UK. As an invited speaker for Campus Seminars at Babraham Institute, Dr. Tariq talked about findings of a reverse genetics screen in Fruit Flies and novel factors they have identified, which are involved in the maintenance of epigenetic cell memory. Different group leaders, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students attending this seminar, appreciated the establishment of such an advanced and cutting-edge research area in Pakistan.
