Welcome to Department of Biology
Greetings and welcome to the Department of Biology at SSE! We are a young but rapidly growing Department which is comprised of energetic, committed and ambitious academicians who are determined to develop world-class undergraduate and graduate programs in Biological Sciences. Currently, the Department offers a 4-year BS degree to Biology majors who can opt to specialize in either Molecular Biology or Computational Biology. We also offer MS and PhD programs in Biology with an opportunity to specialize in Cell and Molecular Biology or Bioinformatics. To produce next generation of highly competent biologists, our undergraduate program offers a challenging 21st century curriculum in life sciences which also emphasizes interdisciplinary training in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Haris Aziz Named Among Top 10 Ai Scientists in the World

Haris Aziz, BSc (Honours) Class of 2003, was recently named among ‘AI’s 10 to Watch‘ by the IEEE Intelligent Systems magazine. The list recognizes 10 researchers who are rising stars in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Haris is currently working as a senior researcher at Data61, Australia’s largest data innovation group which has been recently established by combining NICTA and CSIRO’s Digital Productivity business unit.
