Principles of Finance: Clubs & Socities

This is an introductory course in Finance and the first in a series of required Finance core courses for the B.Sc. Accounting & Finance degree.

Executive Clubs & Student Societies

At LUMS, to nurture a student’s talent, beyond the classroom a thriving platform of student societies exists. These dynamic societies, some of which are mentioned below, encourage leadership and professional development in the students.

Alpha 

ALPHA society,originally founded in 1995 by students from the MBA '97 batch, aims to spread positivity to the entire community through exchange of ideas and thought provoking, entertaining events. Our signature events include SPLASH, RUNG and SHUGHLLUMS. It provides a platform to students to get involved in stress relieving activities and add fun to their LUMS life.

LUMS Entrepreneurial Society (LES)

The LUMS Entrepreneurial Society (LES) is a non-profit student-run society dedicated to promotion of entrepreneurship and leadership in LUMS. It is the first student-organised entrepreneurial society in Pakistan. The society works towards the generation of a competitive and diverse corporate scenario in order to promote the economic growth of the country. 

MBA Students Clubs & Societies

MBA Executive Clubs and Societies at LUMS serve as a platform to bridge the gap between corporate fraternity and the academic world. The objective of these Clubs & Societies is to educate its members about being successful in the world of Business. The Clubs and Societies accomplish these objectives through various nonacademic events such as case competitions, workshops, guest speaker sessions, and inviting distinguished and renowned speakers to share their experiences and learnings.

LUMS Human Resource Executive Club

The LUMS Human Resource Executive Club is a platform designed to develop students’ potential and enhance their networking skills through interaction with human resource professionals. Their vision is to advance the HR profession by bridging the gap between student community and HR fraternity.

LUMS Marketing Executive Club

LUMS Marketing Executive Club (LMEC) is considered to be the most prestigious executive club at LUMS. The club has a history of bringing together the brightest minds from LUMS MBA community to work together. Our vision is to create second-to-none, globally competitive marketing professionals. We provide a platform to the students, corporate executives and other marketing related entities to deliberate over emerging issues in the marketing world.

ShARE

ShARE is a Global student Think Tank. With Chapters in over 14 countries and presence in over 30 leading universities around the globe ShARE is an educational hub for its members. ShARE LUMS chapter was founded in 2010 and apart from its aim to improve research and project opportunities between the global members it also holds events for the local community as well.

PLUMS

Publications at LUMS (PLUMS) is the largest full-time student organisation generating funds from its publications and drawing on students, faculty and business people for written contributions. The organisation publishes at least three publications annually, including the PLUMS Newsletter, Yearbook and the LUMS Business Recorder (LBR).

LUMS Community Service Society

The LUMS Community Service Society was formed two years ago to provide students with an organised platform through which they could help the poverty stricken members of our society. The society regularly holds fund collection drives every academic quarter for various causes, ranging from providing financial assistance to the lower-income employees of LUMS to paying the medical bills of extremely impoverished patients at local hospitals.
