This course will focus on four texts in which trials feature prominently as spaces where the workings of the law are subjected to critical investigation and imagination and revealed as productive of as well as determined by social processes.

Introduction

Welcome to the Gad & Birgit Rausing Library's guide to "Writing from the Trial" that will focus on four texts in which trials feature prominently as spaces where the workings of the law are subjected to critical investigation and imagination and revealed as productive of as well as determined by social processes. The course will focus on texts, and writings about texts, that pose the dilemmas and paradoxes, failures and possibilities, of law and justice in diverse contexts as objects of scrutiny. Students will be asked to make connections between the legal, social, literary, and philosophical questions posed by the texts under discussion.

Law & Politics Society

The Law and Politics Society is a student organization at LUMS that hopes to encourage legal and political discourse on national and international issues. It aspires to enable students to understand the application of legal principles, and overcome obstacles in actual legal practice by addressing real-life situations through quality debate. LUMS Law Journal is a peer-reviewed journal of Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, Lahore University of Management Sciences.
